I completed my first large commissioned painting when I 19 and since then, have created paintings for many happy clients over the years as I really enjoy the process of making people's vision a reality. I don’t see a commission as simply sending me a photograph and asking me to reproduce it. I see each commission as a collaboration between artist and client.
Your memories, ideas and personal connection to the subject are an important part of the creative process. I want you to be involved throughout, from our initial conversations about your ideas to the development of the composition and the progress of the painting itself. My role is to bring my artistic experience, technical knowledge and creative vision to your ideas, while ensuring that the finished artwork feels genuinely personal to you.
How It Works
1. Tell me about your idea
Begin by getting in touch at art@harrietmuller.com. Please include as much information as you can about:
* What you would like painted
* The story or meaning behind the commission or if it's for a special occassion
* Your preferred size
* Your preferred style, from highly realistic to impressionistic
* Any reference photographs you have
* Any special details you would like included
* The country and location to which the painting would be shipped
You do not need to have everything worked out before contacting me. We can develop the idea together. If the painting is being shipped outside the UK, I will look into the shipping options and costs for your particular country before providing your final quote. International clients are responsible for any customs duties, VAT, import taxes or other charges incurred when the artwork enters their country.

2. We discuss your vision
We will discuss your ideas, reference images and the feeling you would like the finished painting to convey. Together, we will consider the:
* Composition
* Size
* Medium
* Style
* Colour palette
* Personal details that could make the painting especially meaningful
My aim is to make the process feel simple, personal and collaborative.

3. You receive your personalised quote
Once we have agreed on the details, I will confirm the final price and estimated completion timeline. I will then send you a commission agreement outlining the project. A 40% deposit is required to reserve your place and begin the commission.

4. We develop the composition together
Before beginning the final painting, I will create a small composition sketch for your approval. This is an important part of the collaboration. It allows us to make sure that the arrangement, positioning and overall feeling of the painting are right before I begin working on the canvas.

5. You see the painting taking shape
Once I am approximately halfway through the painting, I will send you a progress photograph. You will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and feedback while the painting is still developing. A further 30% payment is due at this stage.

6. The final painting is completed
When the painting is finished, I will send you photographs of the completed artwork for your final approval. Once you are completely happy with the finished painting, the remaining balance is due.

7. Your original artwork arrives
Once full payment has been received, your painting will be carefully and securely packaged for delivery. Complimentary insured UK delivery is included in the commission price. For international commissions, I will investigate the most suitable shipping option for your destination and include the applicable shipping cost in your quote. Any customs duties, VAT, import taxes or other charges imposed by the destination country are the responsibility of the client.

All paintings are created on deep-edged 3.8 cm stretched canvas and are supplied unframed unless otherwise agreed.

Custom sizes are available on request. Prices include complimentary insured UK delivery. For larger or more complex commissions, including multiple subjects or particularly detailed compositions, I will provide a personalised quote.
